I have been living a lie. I know this is relatively dramatic, but I believe that there are a few things that just haven’t made sense in my life lately. In 2014, I started this blog as a fun way to share DIY projects, Entertaining Tips, Recipes and Interior Design Inspiration. As you can tell, it has morphed into something completely different, and to be honest, I am not 100% proud of that. You see, when I first started, I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. I think you really can’t know until you have thrown yourself into it. What I learned is that I love blogging, but then I think I went a bit overboard, and I fell into what I call the fashion blogging vortex. The vortex is a world full of loathing, greed, and a lot of wasted money (at least for me). I couldn’t stop, and I’m still struggling to be happy for what I have. It is honestly a vortex- I would buy one thing and then have to buy more and more, until one day I looked at all my clothing and said: that’s it, I’m done. How this happened I can’t tell you.
I’ve always had an interest in fashion, but in all honesty, it was never my passion. My passion has always been creating beautiful things, and somehow this was lost in my blogging. I got caught up with the lights and glamour of being a fashion blogger and lost the real reason I started a blog in the first place.
I started writing content like this and this which is what I call “filler content.” Why? Because it is easy. But to create an amazing blog, it takes a lot of time. Since I started blogging, I heard so many people say that the more you put out there, the more blog readers you will get. This is true, but there is also a level of quality that needs to be in the posts. Recently I feel as if all of my posts have been subpar. My “fashion posts” have also been on the filler scale. I hate this and I am not happy about Making Chic’s current state. It feels meaningless and dry. I want my blog to be meaningful, beautiful, and thoughtful, NOT full of filler posts. I want to put out the richest content that I possibly can. I want to love every post that I put on this blog and I want to create content that I would personally read. To be completely real, I’m not sure I would read my blog if it weren’t my own.
I have decided that in order for me to truly create meaningful content that I absolutely love, I will have to cut down on the volume of posts. So I will be posting one meaningful post a week every Monday. I know my content won’t be all over Pinterest every day of the week, but I’m completely okay with that. I want to be as true and real as possible, and for now, once a week is what I believe is good for me. Once in a while I might post something extra but don’t count on it. This may change once school is over, but once a week works right now.
Also, I do not by any means want to “bash” fashion bloggers in this post. More recently I have been very into material things and I don’t see myself going down the right path with that. I am still going to post about fashion, but you will see that it will be a much more relaxed setting- more of lifestyle fashion or editorial fashion. This will most likely happen only once a month.
Anyway, thank you so much for reading this. I deeply appreciate it!
*UPDATE: I obviously did not stay true to the whole Monday blog post thing.. Read this post for more info, I will now be posting as often as I can which will mostlikley be 2-3 times a week!
